The Extra Give

The ExtraGive Is A Community Day of Fundraising. And this year, we decided to make a game out of it.

In support of our students and in support of our financial aid program, Dean of Students Alex Funnell and Head of School Mike Simpson are going to settle their long running feud — who is the fastest administrator at Stone — by racing across Lancaster during the Extra Give for our first annual Extraordinary Race. Every dollar we receive during the Extra Give affects the race, every dollar we receive goes directly to our students.

And everyone who supports us during the Extra Give gets to play along at home.

Here’s how the race works:

  1. Everyone who supports Stone during the ExtraGive will impact the outcome of the race.  Every single contribution changes the race, which means that every dollar literally counts!

  2. Every dollar we raise between 12:01am and 12pm on Friday, November 17th determines how far away from Tellus the race begins.  We’ve settled on $1,000/mile, which means if we raise $10,000 by 12:00pm, we’re headed to Lititz.  If we raise $25,000, we’re heading to York.  (If we’re at $300,000, we’re heading to Pittsburgh!);

  3. Everyone who supports Stone during the Extra Give will have the opportunity to vote on hourly challenges for Alex and Mike to complete.  Want Alex or Mike to get pictures with 100 other Extra Givers?  You can vote on that!  Want Alex or Mike to track down Sam Bressi and sing a Taylor Swift song to him?  You can vote on that!  All you have to do is support Stone!

  4. You can give directly to Team Alex or Team Mike on our Extra Give Page, and when you do they get power-ups.  Power-ups range from snacks to meals to…Uber!

  5. And, you can send Team Alex and Team Mike power-downs.  Power-downs range from “sitting quietly and reading a full chapter of the Grapes of Wrath” to wearing flippers to, yep, finishing the race in a chicken costume.

  6. The winner of the race will be the first person to get to Tellus 360 and dump a cup of water on their head;

  7. And, every time we hit our major fundraising goals, our entire student body wins:

    1. If we hit $1, we’ll buy pizza for all of our students.  Pizza day!

    2. Or, if we hit $6,650.00 dollars, we’ll hire a food truck for our students;

    3. Or, if we hit $26,500.00 (that’s the cost of 2 tuition lines!), we’ll take everyone to Skyzone.  Let’s bounce!

    4. Or, if we hit our goal of $50,000.00 (that’s the cost of 4 tuition lines!) we’re all taking the day off and going to Hershey Park;

(And by the way, if you think you can beat Alex and Mike, know that a direct contribution of $2,000 gets you and a friend also into the race too!)
