Meet the Pioneers

It’s hard for us to believe it, but it’s true: the Class of 2021 is only a few weeks away from graduating! We call The Class of ‘21 our “Pioneer Class” because they were with us on our very first day of school ever and because they have witnessed every stage of Stone’s development alongside us. Over the next three weeks, we will be spotlighting students from the Class of ‘21 — from the “original” Pioneers who were with us on our very first day right through to the Pioneers who joined us this August!

Where are you headed next Fall?  The University of Southern California, Thornton School of Music;

What are you most excited to learn next year?  I am most excited to expand my comfort zone and push myself into new experiences. I have an exciting opportunity in front of me, to study music recording and production, to study the music industry, and I want to take advantage of all of it.

What’s a project you feel particularly proud of from your time here at Stone?  I am most proud of my Entrepreneurship III project, in which a few peers and I founded a record label -- it felt like a natural conclusion to my journey here at Stone. Yawnny, who is one of our first artists, has already amassed 3500 listens and is getting placement in Spotify’s editorial playlists.

What accomplishment are you most proud of from your time here at Stone?  I feel particularly proud of the fact that I’ve grown so much over the last 4 years. When I started at Stone, I was a shy and quiet student who had very little idea what he wanted to do after school -- now I have a clear understanding of who I am and what I want to accomplish next.

What advice do you have for students just beginning here at Stone?

Try as many new things as you can.  Stone is a place for students who are excited to take risks, who want to experience real growth.

And, just for fun: what’s one song which best exemplifies your time here at Stone?

Poppin Doe by Malcom Mark.
