Assistant Teacher (Lower School) / Full-Time Position

We are looking for a dedicated and energetic Assistant Teacher to join our Lower School team.

As an assistant teacher you’ll support a Lower Elementary mixed-age classroom (2nd-4th) and meet with students in small groups throughout the day. You’ll support our Lead Teachers in designing problem-based experiences and fostering an environment where students feel safe to take risks, fail forward, and grow. You will help students build confidence, independence, and grow their curiosity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborative Instruction: Work alongside Lead Teachers to implement inquiry-driven, hands-on lessons that align with Stone’s Portrait of a Graduate. Support individual and small-group learning activities.

  • Student Mentorship: Act as a mentor and facilitator, helping students navigate academic and social-emotional growth.

  • Classroom Culture: Help maintain a joyful, student-centered environment where vulnerability is celebrated and every voice is heard.

  • Operational Support: Assist with classroom management, documentation of student progress, and daily logistics.

  • Community Engagement: Build warm, respectful relationships with children and families.

POSITION TO BEGIN: August 1, 2026
LOCATION: Lancaster, PA

Who You Are

  • You believe in emphasizing critical thinking, curiosity, and creativity in a child’s educational journey.

  • You believe in nurturing the whole child, including a child’s social and emotional growth.

  • You are yourself naturally curious and comfortable with the "productive struggle" of problem-based learning.

  • You are flexible and feel confident to solve small problems on your own that might arise during the day.

  • You have a degree in Education or a related field (or are working toward one).

  • You are a team player who thrives in a highly collaborative, feedback-driven faculty culture.
