Open STEM Positions at Stone.

Middle + Upper School Science

Middle School / Upper School Science Teacher

The right candidate will be inquisitive, interested in educational design, engaged by Stone’s mission and creative ethos, highly energetic, and committed to working with adolescents.

The Stone Independent School seeks a full-time Middle School/Upper School Science Teacher for the 2026 - 2027 school year. The position is split .75 time in Middle School, .25 time in Upper School. Upper School courses could be core science (i.e., tenth grade chemistry or an Advanced science, etc.), or other electives from STEM and/or other content areas, depending on the interests and background of the candidate hired. Middle School science is general science.

Our science courses are highly immersive and problem-based, while maintaining respect for traditional foundations. Our MS science curriculum provides, over a two-year cycle, a foundation for all Upper School science study and exploration. We build upon elementary-level science experimentation to introduce more sophistication and higher level research skills, with the hope that students will be equipped for independent research as they move into upper grades. Scientific writing is also something we value highly in our STEM courses, and Middle School is an excellent place to hone those skills.

Teachers at Stone are encouraged to teach core courses as well as electives outside of their core content areas -- and to enjoy the vulnerability and exploratory nature of doing so!

POSITION TO BEGIN: August 1, 2026
LOCATION: Lancaster, PA
