At Stone, Middle School is a problem.
Because we believe the practice of higher-order problem-solving is the catalyst for richer and more meaningful learning.
Problem-Solving.
In mathematics classes, in the performing arts, in science, in humanities, in every aspect of our program, Stone Middle School students grapple with complex problems which demand higher-order critical thought, collaboration, iteration, and the ability to give and receive feedback.
The future is highly unpredictable — static worksheets don’t prepare students for the future, problem-solving does.
Designing for Joy.
In a single year, a Stone Middle School student might spend a week on a boat in the Bahamas, and throw a few great dances, and practice for Quiz Bowl, and play soccer for Penn Manor, and compete in Human-Hungry-Hungry Hippos to win the House Cup.
We believe that designing for joy creates the best possible environment for Middle School students to find voice, develop identity, and build capacity.
